Access your Heart Intelligence Through Meditation

Heart intelligence, emotional intelligence, and brain intelligence are all part of our intelligence processing center.

The organ in our head is NOT the only intelligence processing center in the body. The heart organ is also an intelligence processing center.

The heart has its own central nervous system and doesn't just receive orders from the brain as previously thought.

The heart generates an electromagnetic field. This field is much stronger than the brain's electromagnetic field. This field extends outside the body and can be measured across a room.

Much has been learned about heart intelligence over the past decade that is changing the way we view ourselves, our relationship to our hearts, and our physical, emotional, and spiritual health. The heart has the key to the kingdom, in mystical terms.

The heart is both a physical organ and intuitive feeling center. The heart is the central rhythmic force that affects other rhythms throughout the body.

The heart puts out a powerful, rhythmic signal that the brain responds to. These heart rhythms affect how we think, perceive and perform. This is what is meant by heart intelligence. It can also be referred to as being in the Zone.

Coherent heart rhythms affect your resilience and can be a great stress-reducing resource. Non-coherent rhythms are associated with stress.

Chaotic heart rhythm patterns are reflected in slowed reactions, stress, and not thinking clearly.

Smooth, coherent heart rhythm patterns are associated with emotional resilience, mature attitudes, and creativity.

See the page on Heart Rate Variability to see a visual of 2 sets of heart rhythms. One is jagged and has a chaotic pattern while the other is a smooth wave pattern. Both these rhythms come from the same person.

What's important here is to realize that we all have the ability to generate our own smooth, coherent heart rhythm patterns which can dramatically affect our moods, emotional stability, and thinking.

Everybody experiences being in the Zone at times. You may be listening to or playing music, playing sports, writing, being in love, etc. But what would it mean to you if you could somehow learn how to get into the Zone anytime you wanted to under any circumstances?

The meditation practices taught on this site teach you how to breathe rhythmically, and in sync with your own heartbeat or pulse. Doing this for even a few minutes can create the coherent heart rhythm pattern described above.

In Heart Rhythm Meditation (HRM) we create entrainment which is similar to coherence. In our practice we create entrainment between our breath rate and our heart rate. This is pretty easy to learn how to do. And as soon as you are doing it you start to create coherent heart rhythms.

The effects of coherence are profound. Physically, coherence is good for the heart. Smooth heart rhythm patterns are much less stressful on your heart than chaotic patterns. Emotionally, coherence relieves our stress and connects us to our emotional center. Spiritually, coherence is the entry way to a meditative state. You find that calm center which is where you meditate from.

There are some great bio-feedback tools available which measure heart rhythm coherence. I will be sharing these tools with you and showing you how to use them. Some can be used on your computer and others are hand held devices which you take with you anywhere and use anytime. These are 21st century tools for the heart. Once you see how they work you'll be amazed and want to start practicing heart rhythm coherence yourself.

Heart intelligence is the flow of awareness, understanding and intuition we experience when the mind and emotions are brought into coherent alignment with the heart. HeartMath Institute

The heart connects us to a consciousness greater than the ego.

In order to understand heart intelligence we must talk about what the heart is.

In the book Energize your Heart in 4 Dimensions (2007), Puran and Susanna Bair describe the heart as a multi-layered center.

a. It consists of the physical layer which beats out a rhythm and regulates all aspects of the body.

b. It is the center of your energetic system, which includes magnetism, light, and emotions. They call it the energetic-emotional heart.

c. It is the core of yourself, your connection to the infinite, and the embodiment of all that you are and all that you become in your life. The heart beats in a rhythm. The rhythm creates the heart's electromagnetic waves. These waves radiate from our hearts out into the space around us.

Our heart eagerly awaits our attention. The heart feels grateful for all that is given to it. It gives all that it contains. It has a different perspective than the mind.

The heart offers a way to go deeper to find answers.

The heart sends signals to the brain.

Change comes from heartfelt intent.

The power of the heart gives momentum to your chosen direction.

It is the intuitive intelligence of the heart that guides you on your way.

In order to access our heart's intelligence we need to listen to our heart.

And the way we listen to our heart is though our heartbeat! The heartbeat is our heart's way of speaking to us.

In Heart Rhythm Meditation practice we learn to feel our heartbeat and then synchronize our breath with our heartbeat. This simple practice puts us at the gateway to the whole heart, physically, emotionally and spiritually.
